Peep Show: Series 5 Review

Defying the laws of comedy, this series has managed not only to avoid the law of diminishing returns but invert it, so that Jez (Robert Webb) and Mark (David Mitchell) deserve a place in the pantheon alongside Basil Fawlty, Alan Partridge and David Brent. We’re sorry we doubted their ability to top the brilliant fourth series, but we’re delighted to be proven wrong as our losers slide from humiliation to pariahdom in the aftermath of Mark’s immediately failed marriage to co-worker Sophie (Olivia Colman). We won’t spoil the embarrassment; suffice it to say, all regulars return on impeccable form, with a few scintillating new arrivals.
